NZ Post’s bumper parcel season breaks all records
Two days out from Christmas, New Zealand Post is set to smash all previous parcel processing records – with two million parcels going through its network this week alone, up 10% from the same time last year.
New Zealand Post Service Delivery Chief Operating Officer Ashley Smout said the record number of parcels being processed and delivered through New Zealand Post’s extensive network was further evidence that New Zealanders were shopping online in increasing numbers.
“In Auckland on Monday night alone, we processed more than 145,000 parcels at our state-of-the-art Auckland Operating Centre, and more than 160,000 city-wide.
“That’s 80% more than what we see on a typical day in Auckland,” Ashley Smout said.
For the month of December, New Zealand Post (which includes CourierPost) is on track to process up to 7 million parcels, up from 6.5 million last December.
