More capacity added to Milford Sound Lodge to meet guest demand

To experience the ‘real’ Milford Sound, you need to stay overnight. That’s something the team at Milford Sound Lodge are incredibly passionate about.

With the launch of six more chalets and the addition of a modern amenities building, experiencing the ‘real’ Milford Sound is something that even more visitors will be able to enjoy.

‘These new buildings are part of our ongoing commitment to an excellent wilderness guest experience in this special part of New Zealand,’ says General Manager Christine Wallace.

The six new Mountain View chalets were added due to the strength of demand for the overnight Milford Sound experience, and are now open for guest use. Chalets are the most popular accommodation option, and the Lodge now offers 20 in total.

Both the Mountain View and Premium Riverside Chalets offer all the comforts of home, set amidst the World Heritage wilderness of Milford Sound.

For guest convenience , the new amenities building is located close to the campervan sites, and will be ready for all guests to use from late January, 2016. It contains a new guest kitchen, dining and lounging space, as well as modern bathrooms.

The building completes the Lodge’s forest campervan development, putting the Lodge on the map as one of NZ’s ‘Must Do’ places to visit when exploring the country by campervan.

However, the amenities’ building is open to all guests staying at the Lodge, not just those in campervans. The new guest kitchen offers more space to cook, and is perfect for guests wanting to self-cater.

Milford Sound Lodge Lodge is firmly focused on eventually becoming one of New Zealand’s premium wilderness lodge experiences.

“The big changes are exciting but it’s also the small improvements we make that add so much to our guests’ visits,” says Wallace.

“We’ve also recently increased our restaurant offering to full service due to guest demand, which has been well received.

“Our guests look forward to their Milford Sound experience as one of the highlights of their trip. It’s important to us to support and enhance their visit by providing an outstanding stay at our Lodge.”
