Ngati Awa Group Holdings Limited Appoints Chief Executive


Ngati Awa Group Holdings Limited has announced Mr Geoff Hamilton has been appointed Chief Executive and will take up his role on 1 February 2016.

Ngati Awa Group Holdings Chair, Mr Paul Quinn, said Mr Hamilton was the “standout candidate” from a very strong field of candidates.

“In undertaking the Chief Executive search the Ngati Awa Group Holdings Board instigated an independent and transparently conducted process that had attracted a very high/calibre of candidates.

“This was a unanimous decision of the Board and we have absolute confidence that Geoff is the right person to lead the next phase of Ngati Awa Group Holdings’ growth.

“Geoff has proven his leadership qualities and credentials in driving world/class performance in the various roles he has previously held.

These roles have included establishing and successfully running Telecom Rentals Limited, a specialist technology finance provider which was awarded first place in the

Deloitte Fast 50 as New Zealand’s fastest growing company in 2010, and third place in 2011.

Prior to establishing Telecom Rentals Limited Geoff held a number of senior positions within Spark New Zealand in the small business and finance areas.

Currently Geoff heads Equipment Finance Limited, the commercial finance arm of Fisher & Paykel Finance Limited.

Te Runanga o Ngati Awa’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ms Leonie Simpson, also expressed strong support for the decision to appoint Geoff.

Mr Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Business Studies in Accounting is married to Mia and has two children, Luke (age 19) and Gabrielle (age 17). He has had a long standing interest in surf life saving and is currently Chairman, Surf Life Saving New Zealand Inc.
