February at Silo Park: Auckland’s Front Porch

For four summers, Silo Park has been a place for Aucklanders to enjoy. Now halfway into season five, Silo Park summer activity continues with Silo Cinema, Silo Markets, and Silo Sessions, in association with Panuku Development and Fresh Concept.

Silo Markets

Silo Markets boast the very best makers and traders of arts, crafts, fashion and accessories, accompanied by Auckland's best street food and the Silo Park bar, pouring local craft beer and interesting wines. Silo Markets open every Friday from 5pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from noon, with special themed markets throughout the month.

Be sure to mark out Sunday 7 February, as Silo Markets bring in the Chinese New Year with the sights, sounds and cuisine of a spectacular curated Asian community market. Come Sunday 21st, Silo Park will host a special Children's Market, for a one-stop shop of children and baby products. February is Bike Month, and on Friday 26 February, 10 Days of Fashion in the City kicks off in Auckland - to celebrate, Silo Markets is bringing together a host of Auckland’s in-vogue makers and traders on Sunday February 28 for Bespoke, a fashion and bicycle market - with runway shows, bicycles, local designers, accessories for you and your ride.

Silo Cinema

Silo Cinema kicks off with a bang on Friday 5 February, with the much-anticipated return of Top Gun, thanks to PlaceMakers. On Friday 12 February, family sci-fi classic ET hits the Silo Cinema screen thanks to Auckland Transport. On Friday 19 February, Silo Cinema presents family comedy Chef, thanks to Whitlocks. Silo Cinema brings a dose of fashionable flair on Friday 26 February with Dior and I, in support of 10 Days of Fashion in the City, thanks to Heart of the City. Sunday 21 February sees a special daytime screening of hit family animation Minions take place, thanks to Emirates.

Silo Sessions

Every Saturday afternoon, Silo Park plays host to local and international musicians. February’s programme boasts an impressive selection of artists. The esteemed NZ Soul All Dayer takes place Saturday 6 February, Waitangi Day, bringing the latest installment of the popular collective of soul musicians and DJs, featuring with DJs Murray Cammick, Frank Booker, Selecta Sam, Lo Key, Nyntee, Kirsty, Submariner and more. Saturday 13 February brings a bit of rock’n’roll to Silo Park, when indie/alt upstarts New Gum Sarn hit the stage for Silo Sessions - check out their video for Bad Soyfor a taste. They’re joined by slacker-psych groove merchants Te Huhu, take a look atCruising Around, with a live soundtrack from a recent Pah Homestead performance.Saturday 20 February sees Auckland outfit Avoid Avoid hit the stage for Silo Sessions, bringing their Krautrock inspired psychospheric drone to Silo Park. Come 27 February, Rice & Beans is back at Silo Park for 2016, with a one-off, eclectic mash-up of South American and Caribbean music, culture, art and food with an epic line-up of musicians and DJs. This year features Chica Licorica, Cian, Dubhead, Latinaotearoa, Black Alien and Ak Samba & Brazilian Divas - for an incredible afternoon of great vibes and community good times at Silo Park.

As Wynyard Quarter continues to develop and grow for Auckland and it's people, visitors are encouraged to consider the on-going construction in the area. With this in mind, visitors to Silo Park should consider planning their journey to and from the area.
