Ms Scates says she was very surprised with the win but is ecstatic to have been recognised as a rising star, “it’s such an honour to have won and it’s just made me that much more hungry to exceed the service I already provide, it’s really raised the bar for me.”

“I’m so proud to have seen two of our own rise to the top, it’s a real credit to their ability to inspire their customers and build long-term relationships.”

2016 is the fourth consecutive year a Cruiseabout NZ travel expert has received the Rising Star of the Year award, Mr Bodger says, “it’s great to see that the training and investment we put into our people really pays off and that they are experts in their field”.

The demand for cruising continues to grow year on year, figures from CLIA show the industry has no signs of slowing down with 24 million passengers expected to sail during 2016.

Mr Bodger says “the continuing demand for cruise holidays is largely due to consumer confidence, affordability and the increasing variety of cruise holidays that are available.”

CLIA reports that member cruise lines are scheduled to debut 27 new ocean, river and speciality ships in 2016 for a total investment of more than $6.5 billion in new ocean vessels alone.
