Village Distillery acquires Schnapp Dragon Distillery
Takaka, New Zealand - VILLAGE DISTILLERY has completed its purchase of the Schnapp Dragon Distillery on 1st April. In addition to purchasing the distillery assets, the sale included the existing rum stock which is branded under ‘Murderer’s Bay’. Aged 14 years in French oak barrels, Murderer’s Bay rum recently won the top prize in London’s Global Rum Master competition for the best aged rum. Village Distillery is crafting a new Gin and Vodka line along with replenishing the aged rum stock.
Ben Bonoma, the Managing Director of Village Distillery says: “We are thrilled with our acquisition of the distillery and the purchase of Murderer’s Bay rum. I am working with the Master Distiller to craft the continuation of our rum line, new gin and vodka recipes through small batch runs”.
The distillery is located in idyllic Takaka in Golden Bay. The cellar door will be shut for the next few months while the spirit lines are being refreshed and the tasting room is undergoing renovations. “We anticipate on re-opening our doors to public by Labour weekend and look forward to welcoming folks to our beautiful distillery” says Bonoma.
