Pet Doctors Expands into Nelson Region

New Zealand’s largest nationwide group of veterinary clinics, Pet Doctors, has acquired its first clinic in the Nelson region.

Stoke Veterinary Clinic, one of Nelson’s premier veterinary clinics, has joined the Pet Doctors Group. The existing ownership and team will remain working at the clinic.

This year has already seen a flurry of acquisitions for Pet Doctors – including two new clinics in Christchurch, and the Group’s first mixed-animal practice in Waihi.

Pet Doctors’ CEO Steve Merchant says the business model provides Kiwi veterinarians with flexible options for their future.

“Veterinarians can either choose to exit their practice, or remain working in their communities under the umbrella and support of Pet Doctors. Together we can provide an ever-growing network of veterinary experience and services to pet-owners.”

Founded in 2005, Pet Doctors Group currently operates 28 veterinary clinics throughout New Zealand. Other regions include Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Pet Doctors Group also operates an online pet retail business (www.petpost.co.nz); and a veterinary nurse training school, Vet Nurse Plus.
