Whangarei (February 29, 2016) – SPEEDY SIGNS, New Zealand’s largest sign franchise, announce Craig and Margaret Palmer as the new owners of the Whangarei store on 103 Cameron Street.
Before joining the Speedy Signs group, Craig Palmer worked in the corporate sector for the last 30 years as a Senior Manager for brands including Telecom New Zealand, Whangarei District Council, Steel & Tube Ltd, and Fletcher Building. Craig’s last 18 years were in the roof manufacturing industry, complementing the skills required for this new business ownership venture.
Despite never personally owning a business, Craig jumped at the opportunity to join this national network in his own backyard.
“The signage industry appeals to me for a couple reasons, firstly it’s a business model that complements my corporate and sales background, and secondly I was interested in exploring opportunities for self-employment as part of my long-term retirement plan. Being based in the Whangarei region was also a contributing factor as I’m a born and raised Northlander.
“Being part of New Zealand’s leading signage network allows knowledge sharing, mentoring from experienced owners, and ongoing marketing and operational support from the Franchise Office, which is a strong combination for success” explains Craig.
In these early stages of business Craig’s main focus is on developing strong relationships with existing clientele, and has high growth ambitions once he has ‘found his feet’. His wife Margaret plans to continue in her career however doesn’t rule out working at their store in the future.
Speedy Signs Whangarei’s store hours are 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and by appointment on Saturday.
With over 20 locations nationwide, Speedy Signs is a business model that lends itself to the ideal entrepreneur, with incredible growth potential. Franchisees can grow highly profitable businesses within the support structure of a franchise network receiving ongoing operational and marketing assistance from the Support Office.
