Ruth Richardson retires from Jade Software board

Christchurch, 10 May 2016 – The Hon. Ruth Richardson, today announced her retirement from the Board and Chairmanship of Jade Software. The announcement ends a 20 year association with one of New Zealand’s early technology pioneers.

Ms Richardson was appointed to the Jade Board of Directors in January 1995, and became the Chairman in 1998. During her tenure Jade has undergone significant international expansion through the increasing profile and performance of Master Terminal, Jade’s specialist ports’ software. The company listed its crime analytics division Wynyard Group, in an IPO on the NZ Stock Exchange in 2013, as well as delivering significant new technologies to market. Ms Richardson announced that she will step down from the company following its Annual General Meeting which was held on 9 May 2016.

David Cutter, CEO, Skipton Building Society, Jade’s largest shareholder says that Ms Richardson has made a major contribution to the company, shepherding many successes while creating value for shareholders.

“Jade has been very fortunate to have Ruth as a Director and Chairman for more than two decades. During that time, Jade has seen a lot of change. The company has innovated to reinvent itself, and developed new and successful business units. Through this, Ruth’s leadership and stewardship of the company has been invaluable.

“Ruth leaves Jade in good shape, with the company having a sound strategy and strong opportunities for the future. We are very grateful for, and celebrate her many contributions to Jade, and wish her well for whatever the future holds.”

Ms Richardson adds, “My time with Jade has been a significant part of my governance career and over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with a great selection of fellow Board members and Jade staff.

“I’m very proud of the many successes that have delivered considerable value for Jade’s customers and shareholders. I would like to personally thank all of Jade’s shareholders for their support of the company, and thank my fellow Directors for their considerable contribution. I would also like to thank the staff at Jade for making the company what it is - truly the best software company in New Zealand.”

The recruitment process is underway to find a new chairman for the company, which Jade hopes to announce soon.
