Slight Easing For Wool
Slight Easing For Wool
New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s C.E.O, Mr John Dawson reports the 5,400 bales of North Island wools on offer saw a 91 percent clearance with slightly lower price levels for the generally average to poorer style selection compared to the South Island sale on 5th May. When compared to the previous North Island sale however, prices are firm to slightly dearer, except for lines with high seed content which continue to be significantly discounted.
The weighted indicator for the main trading currencies eased 0.69 percent having little impact on local prices.
Mr Dawson advises that a limited selection of Fine Crossbred Early Shorn and Second Shears were firm to buyers favour.
Coarse Full Length Fleece were firm to 2.5 percent easier with Coarse Shears 1 to 2 percent cheaper.
First Lambs were 3 to 4.5 percent easier as more poorer style lines become available.
Short Oddments eased 3 to 5 percent compared to the more stylish South Island offering.
Limited competition with Australasia, India and Western Europe principals with limited support from China, United Kingdom and the Middle East.
Next sale on 19th May comprises approximately 7,400 bales from the South Island.
