How to be the disruptor, not the disrupted

How to be the disruptor, not the disrupted

Seven local and international ‘disruptors’ are set to challenge and inspire New Zealand businesses at a series of Spark Lab sessions this month.

This month Spark Lab will bring together seven local and international speakers to look at the opportunities and challenges New Zealand businesses face following the rapid rise of disruptive technologies and organisations.

“The pace of disruptive change is unrelenting and will affect every business, in every sector, sooner rather than later,” said Head of Business Marketing for Spark, Richard Sandford. “New Zealand has its fair share of innovators, but there is a big opportunity for businesses who embrace disruption to stay ahead of the curve and to stay relevant to their customers.”

Serial tech entrepreneur Greg Cross will be among those presenting at the lab as part of Disruption Month. He believes the new ideas of disruptors have potential to make a big difference globally.

"New technology, new business models and new service industries represent an exciting era of opportunity and change at the same time as the world faces a period of enormous problems and human suffering.

The most valuable and important corporations of the next 20 years will be those that use what is new to meet these challenges and make a contribution above and beyond the bottom line,” he said.

Cross will be joined in the lineup by Dr Michelle Dickinson ( AKA Nanogirl ); Ido Leffler, co-founder of Yoobi; Singularity University ambassador Kaila Colbin; and high growth architect Glen Andert.
