Best practice in governance, risk and compliance at Te Papa

Best practice in governance, risk and compliance to feature at Te Papa event

RiskIQ partners with MetricStream to bring governance, risk, and compliance solutions to New Zealand

3 June 2016 | Wellington, New Zealand: Senior managers and board members responsible for governance, risk and compliance (GRC) will get a rare opportunity to hear the latest in best practice at an exclusive event to be held at Te Papa in Wellington this month.

Organised by RiskIQ, in partnership with MetricStream, a world leader in GRC solutions, the Leading with GRC event on 9 June will bring together some of the top risk management, compliance, and audit professionals in New Zealand, to share their ideas, views, and industry best practices on topical GRC concerns and real-world case studies.

Speakers at the event include Gareth Ellis, Assistant Auditor General, from the Parliamentary Group and Richard Kirkland, Partner and Director of RiskIQ. There will also be a panel discussion on good governance, risk management, and compliance practices including managing health and safety, featuring Simon Arcus (Chair), CEO, New Zealand Institute of Directors; Fiona Ewing, National Safety Director, Forestry Industry Safety Council; Richard Langley, Group Manager, HSE, Todd Corporation; and Janita Stuart, Information Manager, Worksafe New Zealand.

The Leading with GRC event will also give attendees the opportunity to network with peers from other organizations, interact with top analysts, and gain expert insight into running a successful GRC program.

Richard Kirkland, a partner and director of RiskIQ, says, “The increasing uncertainty and expanding web of regulation that have come to characterise today’s fast-moving business environment mean organisations require comprehensive, integrated solutions to better help them manage their risk, compliance, and quality management programmes.”

According to Kirkland, although New Zealand’s financial services and public sectors have fared well compared to their peers in other countries, they are now looking for advanced solutions that can help them strengthen and streamline their governance, risk management, and compliance initiatives, all while reducing cost.

“New Zealand has seen good growth on the back of a robust economy and strong exports, but this has been accompanied by greater demands to demonstrate effective governance, risk management and compliance capability, both from regulators and shareholders.”

“By combining an offshore framework we gain access to international best practice, but at the same time can prudently apply them to fit the New Zealand context.”

“By partnering with MetricStream, we are in a much stronger position to assist New Zealand companies to stay abreast of business and regulatory changes, improve their internal decision-making processes, deliver better outcomes and at the same time reduce costs,” says Kirkland.

Durgadutt Nedungadi, Vice President, Sales International of MetricStream, says, “New Zealand organisations stand to gain immensely from this partnership as they build robust governance, risk, compliance and quality management programs.”

“With our deep understanding of the GRC space and continued focus on delivering best-in-class solutions, we have helped organisations across the world overcome their GRC challenges and pursue new opportunities. We are very much looking forward to doing the same in New Zealand,” says Nedungadi.
