Consumer NZ Advises Care Around Funeral Insurance
“The Consumer NZ report out today warning the public to do their homework before investing in costly funeral insurance is timely and well worthy of note” said Katrina Shanks, CE of the Funeral Directors Association of NZ (FDANZ).
“While it is really important to prearrange and if possible prepay for your final farewell, as with any contract, it is important to ask questions of the funeral planning professional before signing on the dotted line” she said.
FDANZ provide their own funeral plan which is offered through its participating members. There are other plans available on the markey but regardless of the product chosen Mrs. Shanks encouraes the buyer to consider and examine their chosen options thoroughly.
“We have been concerned by the number of people who have already found they have paid much more than their insurance cover is worth” she said. “We welcome this report to the market and cannot emphasise enough the importance of buyers asking questions and doing their homework before deciding on their funeral plan” said Mrs Shanks.
