‘Airport personal assistant’ app wins international marketing award
Auckland
Airport’s new travel app has won a silver award in the
prestigious international Academy of Interactive and Visual
Arts’ Communicator Awards 2016.
Jason Delamore, Auckland Airport’s general manager – marketing and technology, says, “We’re delighted to have our efforts to improve our customer experience with this app recognised at this international level. Our goal is to bring technology and customer experience together to make customers’ journeys as simple and stress-free as they can be, regardless of their airline or class of travel.”
Mr Delamore likens the app to customers’ ‘personal assistant at the airport and beyond’.
“There’s a lot to organise and remember when you’re flying. With our app and web technologies you can plan ahead for your trip, pre-book your parking, browse for and pre-buy your duty-free, and pre-book to relax in our Auckland Airport Emperor Lounge.”
“When it’s time to travel, our app shows you when you need to be at check-in, security and your gate. Even before you leave your home or office, we can provide traffic information and tell you how early you may need to leave to get to the airport on time. We can even remind you to collect your duty-free on the way through.”
The award also cements a unique partnership between Auckland Airport and TripIt. TripIt is the world’s highest-rated travel-organising app, used by more than 12 million users worldwide.
“The integration of TripIt with an airport app is a world first”, says Mr Delamore. “This partnership means our customers can keep all their travel plans organised in one place: from parking and flights to hotel reservations, rental cars and activities.”
Auckland Airport acknowledges the expertise of technology partners Gladeye and Datacom in helping develop this solution.
Auckland Airport launched the app in August 2015. The app is available on both iOS and Android platforms. It has been downloaded by over 97,000 travellers.
