Off-Road Farm Action at the Agrodome

Off-Road Farm Action at the Agrodome

Rotorua, 9 June 2016: Experience the 350-acre Agrodome sheep and cattle farm in true farm style on an all terrain 6-seater quad bike driven by a farmer.

A new addition to the Agrodome experience Back Country Adventure takes you off-road through swamps, orchards, cattle and sheep pasture, a working wool shed - and some steep hills along the way - offering farm visitors a behind the scenes glimpse of farm life, and a first hand commentary from one of the Agrodome farmers.

Agrodome Business Manager Dominik Strobel says, "The off-road experience is a great addition to the farm tours and shows already offered at the Agrodome taking it one step further to a real farm experience with mud, hills and thrills thrown into the mix.

"Visitors can get close to the farm's animals and listen to a real life account of what working a farm is all about from the farmer driving the LUV (light utility vehicle)."

Designed to offer Agrodome visitors a little more than the ordinary farm experience the six-seater LUV - purpose built in the USA - is perfect for the job. With padded hand rails, staggered seat backs for extra shoulder room and half height doors and shoulder rests to help keep out the mud. And all without restricting views as visitors tour around the farm.

Dominik adds that it's certainly a bit more hands on and exciting than your usual farm tour, but in saying that it's suitable for most ages.

The Agrodome has been one of New Zealand’s best-loved visitor attractions for more than 40 years and has won the coveted New Zealand Tourism Award for the New Zealand's Best Visitor Attraction a number of times, and has more than once been awarded for its outstanding service and contribution to the New Zealand Tourism Industry.
