Waitaki District continues to show significant improvements in guest nights

Guest nights in the Waitaki District increased by 12.5 percent for the month of April 2016. Total guest nights for the month of April 2016 were 38,192 compared with 33,948 for the month of April 2015.

Annual guest nights for the year ending April 2016 were 420,449 compared with 384,204 for the year ending April 2015. This is an extra 36,245 guest nights, or an increase of 9.4 percent.

The breakdown by accommodation type is as follows:

Holiday Parks: 12,960
Motels: 12,939
Hotels: 10,145
Backpackers: 2,147

For the year ending April 2016, the Waitaki District has a 1.2 percent share of guest nights in the monthly New Zealand accommodation market. This is a slight increase on 2015 when it was 1.1 percent.
