Fulton Hogan to lead Central Otago highway maintenance

Fulton Hogan to lead Central Otago highway maintenance contract

18 August 2016

Fulton Hogan is delighted to have been awarded the Central Otago highway maintenance contract by the New Zealand Transport Agency.

The contract will be delivered by a consortium lead by Fulton Hogan and includes key physical works subcontractors Base Contracting and Whitestone Contracting, and professional service providers Opus Consultants. The four parties will deliver this work under the identity of ‘Aspiring Highways’.

Fulton Hogan Regional Manager Paul Bisset said the Aspiring Highways team are excited by the collaborative opportunities presented by the new model and is looking forward to getting underway on 1 October 2016 with the care and maintenance of 537km of highway in the region.

“We have a proud history of work in the region and a strong focus on delivering good quality outcomes for the network and all road users,” says Mr Bisset.

The new Network Outcome Contracts (NOC) are part of a nationwide change in the procurement and execution of State Highway maintenance under a highly collaborative environment. It is a seven year contract with the possibility of a two year extension.

Prior to this newly announced contract Fulton Hogan had spent the last five years maintaining the roads in the region under a traditional maintenance contract and has a good working knowledge of both the Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago districts.

“For Fulton Hogan this continues our strong connection with the local community and helps us maintain our current presence in the region,” Mr Bisset says.

Fulton Hogan currently has around 230 staff based in Queenstown, Wanaka, Cromwell and Alexandra.
