Westpac announced as Māia Health Foundation's first partner

5 September 2016
MEDIA RELEASE
Westpac announced as Māia Health Foundation's first founding business partner

Westpac is the first business to partner with the Māia Health Foundation.
The Foundation was launched in May this year and is on a mission to enhance the health experience in Canterbury.

The Māia Health Foundation has set itself the ambitious task of raising $5.2 million for its two initial projects that are part of the redevelopment at Christchurch Hospital, to be completed end of 2018; a purpose-built rooftop helipad, providing faster access for emergency care; and to improve the children’s facilities to make each stay as comfortable as possible for children and their families.

“We’re very pleased to get behind the Māia Health Foundation to support such critical projects that will benefit all South Islanders,” said Sue Foley, Westpac’s Director of Corporate Affairs. “Westpac has been a long time sponsor of Canterbury’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a future-proofed helipad is a natural extension of our support.

“The rescue helicopters bring patients to the hospital with varying medical requirements – but one thing the children have in common is the anxiety and stress they face by being in hospital. Westpac is grateful for the opportunity to support a cause that will make such a difference to so many,” Ms Foley said.

Māia Health Foundation Chief Executive Michael Flatman is thrilled by the support and to announce Westpac as its founding business partner.

“We are delighted with our partnership with Westpac. A purpose-built rooftop helipad and improved children’s facilities are the first of what we hope are many projects the Māia Health Foundation will be working on within the health system.

“We have already received significant donations from Trusts and individuals, and we are hoping many more businesses and individuals get behind Māia Health Foundation.”
