MEDIA RELEASE OCTOBER 2016

Island Taxis Launches TaxiCharge Payment And Billing Services for Customers

Island Taxis, Waiheke’s largest taxi fleet, has ramped up its customer services by joining TaxiCharge to provide its full range of card based expense management and payment solutions.

The new services, which include the latest EFTPOS payment terminals, billing and reporting capabilities, have been installed in the fleet in the company’s strategy to keep abreast of advances in payment technology in the taxi industry.

“Many of our customers, particularly those on business, come to the island to attend meetings and functions so it’s important that we keep our payment and accounting systems at the leading edge,” explained Island Taxis owner Mike Cox.

“Quick payment solutions such as paywave for people in a hurry are now all part of our service – it’s part and parcel of ensuring that people leave the island having enjoyed their time and being hassle free, particularly when paying for their transport.”

Island Taxis, which employs about 50 fulltime and part time staff in conjunction with Executive Taxis, operates a fully computerised dispatch system. Its fleet is also GPS monitored and tracked.

“We know the island and we know what works,” said Cox. “We have good business relationships with all the vineyards and venues so it is important to us that we keep all our systems at the forefront of technology.”

Island Taxis is Waiheke’s oldest taxi company and offers taxi, private hire and shuttle services.

TaxiCharge has a nationwide network of 26 taxi company Partners where account holders are able to use a broad range of card services to manage and control their taxi spend.
