Thank Your Cleaner Day - October 19

For immediate release

Vacuum Vixens and Waste Warriors celebrated

New Zealanders across the country have the opportunity to thank their Refuse Refurbishers, Waste Warriors and Vacuum Vixens as part of Thank Your Cleaner Day on October 19.

Every day, tens of thousands of hard working cleaning staff, often outside normal business hours, are onsite across the country to ensure work places are in order for the next day.

Facilities services company, OCS, has around 4,000 staff working across New Zealand at more than 9300 offices, warehouses, shops, airports and more – including its own offices and operational sites.

In Masterton, there will be a staff and client morning tea at the Wairarapa DHB, along with yellow balloons flying from cleaner’s trolleys to mark the day.

Cleaners at Auckland Museum will also be treated to a morning tea, while an afternoon tea is being hosted at Queenstown’s Mt Aspiring College.

OCS NZ Managing Director, Gareth Marriott says it’s great to formally acknowledge the team and reinforce the fact that they’re valued and appreciated – not just by OCS, but by their clients across the country.

“They do a fantastic job working all hours of the day and night, as well as weekends. Clean and tidy environments are a major contributor to our overall health and wellbeing, as well as a productive workplace,” Mr Marriott says.

In New Zealand the cleaning industry is worth over $1 billion and employs nearly 40,000 people.
