"Fill your own bottle" at Heron's Flight, Matakana's original cellar door
The owners of boutique vineyard Heron's Flight, David Hoskins and Mary Evans, invite the public to a unique event at their family-owned vineyard.
Guests will be welcomed beyond the cellar door on Sunday 27 November from 9.30am onwards to fill their own bottle of a special batch of 2014 Sangiovese.
The 2014 Sangiovese is a deep purple ruby colour that carries excellent density, ripe cherry and plum fruit flavours and a well-integrated structure. It boasts liquorice, earth and tobacco notes - (Stefano Guidi) and makes for an excellent Christmas gift.
On the day, guests can fill their own bottle of this unique wine for $13.00, or for an additional $1 will be given a bottle and cork – minimum of six bottles.
A day amidst the vines, roses, olives and fig trees; a local bluegrass band will play from 11 am and guests are invited to bring along a picnic, sample a wealth of offerings from the cabinet fridge or join in on a relaxed barbecue.
