World Ski Awards Crown The Rees Hotel Queenstown New Zealand’s Best Ski Hotel 2016
The Rees Hotel Queenstown has been crowned Best New Zealand Ski Hotel at this year’s World Ski Awards held in Kitzbühe, Austria over the weekend.
Known colloquially in the industry as the “Oscars” of the World Ski Awards, The Rees was selected from a short list of seven outstanding properties across New Zealand, making the award all the more impressive.
It was one of few finalists for the best Ski Hotel in the World, and lost out by only a few votes to a hotel in Verbier, Switzerland.
These prestigious industry awards were established four years ago and are ski tourism’s highest accolade, recognizing excellence across a range of categories, from operators and departments to luxury ski properties worldwide.
The World Ski Awards are voted on by travel professionals as well as the general public and are the only global awards to celebrate excellence in ski tourism.
“We are incredibly honoured to have been chosen as New Zealand’s Best Ski hotel”, says General Manager of The Rees Hotel, Mark Rose. “This award is a testament to the entire staff of the hotel for their commitment in striving to offer a unique ski accommodation experience in conjunction with high quality across all other facets and departments of our property”.
The Rees Hotel is spectacularly well located with convenient access to four first class ski-fields in the Queenstown area; Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Treble Cone and Cardona. Together these fields offer a vast range of different terrains suitable for all levers of skiers and boarders.
The Rees Hotel is the ideal ski accommodation option for families, couples and groups. The generous sized hotel rooms and one, two or three bedroom apartments will ensure guests return to comfort and luxurious relaxation after a full day on the slopes. Facilities such as complimentary high speed wifi and 200 in-room movies and an award- winning restaurant and wine cellar seals the off-slope deal for everyone. The Hotel has a secure ski locker on site, ski field coaches going past the hotel at regular intervals or can arrange hire of a mini van with a driver guide. Hotel cars are also available for transfers.
The Rees Hotel's comprehensive and complimentary ski concierge services make a snow holiday stay memorable for all the right reasons. The friendly and professional concierge team can help with arranging ski or snowboard packages, gear hire (which can be waiting pre-ordered and delivered to our ski locker or custom fit in the comfort of your hotel room or apartment), booking lessons with an independent instructor that can look after family or individual lessons or even heli skiing.
With direct flights, four great ski fields and now a globally awarded luxury ski accommodation at The Rees Hotel, it is no surprise Queenstown continues to grow in popularity for Australian skiers and boarders.
The other nominees in the category were Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa, Millbrook Resort, Crowne Plaza Queenstown, Chateau Tongariro Hotel, Peppers Bluewater Report and The Hermitage.
The Rees Hotel Queenstown blends chic
five star accommodation with all the comforts of home and
the service and facilities of an elite international hotel.
Situated on the absolute lakefront, The Rees’ terraced
construction delivers complete privacy and showcases
panoramic views overlooking Lake Wakatipu and The
Remarkables Mountains in Queenstown, New Zealand.
Its
