NZ Rugby Player's New Smoothie Delivery Venture

NZ RUGBY PLAYER’S NEW SMOOTHIE DELIVERY VENTURE

Former rugby player, Riki Hoeata, has turned a career-ending concussion into the catalyst for launching his nation-wide smoothie delivery business, Craft Smoothie.

“It’s been a tough road but I’m stoked to finally get Craft Smoothie off the ground,” shared the 28-year-old. “Having my rugby dream striped away isn’t an easy pill to swallow, but as they say, everything happens for a reason. This set-back has given me the drive to turn my business idea into a reality.”

“The idea came from my personal challenge of maintaining a healthy diet, while juggling a full-time job with a professional rugby career. I found homemade smoothies to be the most convenient and nutritious way to refuel before work or training, and I knew I could help other busy Kiwis with the same solution. Delivering pre-portioned seasonal produce and organic superfoods, Craft Smoothie provides everything you need to whip up healthy smoothie recipes at home,” explained Hoeata.

“Too many people I know are skipping breakfast or making poor meal choices, blaming lack of time or ingredients. Craft Smoothie isn’t about going on a diet, it’s about helping busy people get a clean, wholefood breakfast that takes 2 minutes to prepare,” said Hoeata.

The Craft Smoothie website was launched last month and within days of the announcement, the site received hundreds of hits, and orders were being placed instantaneously.

Early adopters of the smoothie boxes have commented on the unique ingredients and flavour combinations.

“I’ve had my fair share of average smoothies, so it’s important that our recipes are nothing short of awesome. Using the best tasting combinations of seasonal produce and organic nuts, seeds and superfood powders, my aim is to ensure the recipes are as good for you as they taste,” said Hoeata.

Hoeata has invested significant time into perfecting the Craft Smoothie experience. From the logo he designed himself, to the website user experience, smoothie recipes and custom-designed packaging, his aim is to delight customers at all touch points and give them something to get excited about each week.

“Seeing everything come together and the hearing the positive feedback from customers has definitely been a highlight of the journey. I wanted to create a service that would enable busy people to become more productive through exciting nutrition, and I’m proud to see that happening,” said Hoeata.
