Dragonfly announces Bao Boy

MEDIA RELEASE
JANUARY 2017

IT’S A BOY! THE NEWEST ADDITION TO THE DRAGONFLY FAMILY

The Dragonfly team is at it again! Owner operators Brent Wong and Tania Siladi are proud to announce a new venture in the exciting Bao Boy. Bao Boy aims to bring the already popular bao bun concept, adding various new twists and flavours.

The inspiration for Bao Boy comes from the success of Dragonfly’s sister business, Asian Food Republic’s, bao promotion at the Moore Wilson’s food pods in 2016 and at Wellington’s Beervana event. “Our pork baos have always been a hit at Dragonfly, so we went for a fresh approach selling them through stalls over the course of the year, and it’s organically developed into this Bao Boy venture,” commented Brent Wong on the origins of Bao Boy.

For two weeks from January 23, Bao Boy will operate out of a Moore Wilson’s food pod.

Wellington will be able to experience an exciting array of bao buns filled with the classics such as pork and chicken to new flavours with the introduction of a tofu and shiitake mushroom, and even a dessert styled deep fried bun! Each bao bun will have it’s own unique and fun name, such as “Incredibao” and “Unbelievabao” to add to the experience.

A breakfast bao bun and other delicious variations are also being tested and will be introduced later in the year.

After the initial launch of Bao Boy, a central Wellington site will be confirmed to operate from, catering especially to lunches and quick snacks to the central business district. This will create an exciting point of conversation for those living and working in the city.
