EcoMatters Launches CO.STARTERS for Causes

EcoMatters Launches CO.STARTERS for Causes

EcoMatters Environment Trust is excited to launch CO.STARTERS for Causes, an internationally proven platform that helps participants grow social enterprise in their local community. The nine-week programme equips aspiring social entrepreneurs with the insights, relationships, and tools needed to turn ideas into action.

CO.STARTERS will be facilitated by EcoMatters in partnership with AUT. The nine-week programme will kick off 6pm - 9pm, Wednesday, May 17 at EcoMatters, 1 Olympic Place, New Lynn. EcoMatters is committed to fostering sustainable communities and believes the CO.STARTERS programme is a unique offering in the social enterprise start-up landscape.

“We know our community is creative and can be strengthened by encouraging local start-ups to foster new initiatives and help fund causes close to our hearts. We see social entrepreneurial thinking as the foundation for our community’s future”, says EcoMatters CEO, Damon Birchfield.

CO.STARTERS for Causes is aimed at individuals or organisations who would like to test and develop their social enterprise idea. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to create a sustainable business, identifying whether or not an idea is good and how to change it to make it work. “We work with local experts and mentors who share their knowledge of business modelling, budgeting, customer research and marketing. You’ll leave the course with a clear understanding of the next steps needed to bring your venture to life”, says course facilitator Emily Harris.

Patrick O' Reilly completed the course earlier this year through AUT. “I found the CO.STARTERS 9 week programme a great way to meet like minded people and be inspired by the shared learning and insights gained. The course allowed me to become clearer about what is required to develop and deliver a business idea while focussing on my customers. I also found there was a real sense of community among the participants even after the course finished which is great!”.
