First NZ Brewery to Win a Trophy in Almost 50 Years

GALBRAITH’S; FIRST NZ BREWERY TO WIN A TROPHY IN ALMOST 50 YEARS

Galbraith’s celebrates Championship Trophy win, as the only Southern Hemisphere brewery to be awarded a trophy at the ‘2017 International Brewing Awards’.

Following on from the recent success of their double gold medal win, Galbraith’s have topped this with winning the Champion Strong Beer trophy for their Rurik Russian Imperial Stout, at the International Brewing Awards 2017.

This years’ competition sees Galbraith’s being the only New Zealand brewery to be awarded a Gold Medal, the only brewery in the world to win 2 Gold Medals and the only brewery in the Southern Hemisphere to win a Championship Trophy. Only 10 Championship trophies were awarded, with more than 1,100 beers and ciders judged. This makes it a remarkable achievement to win not only two gold medals, but a Championship trophy also. A very proud moment for Keith Galbraith and his team.

As previously publicised, Galbraith’s received a Gold Medal in the ‘Lager Class’, for the Galbraith’s Bohemian Pilsner, and a Gold Medal in the ‘Strong Dark Beer Class’, for their Rurik Russian Imperial Stout.

“I thought winning two gold medals was the highlight of my 40 year career, but, winning the trophy for the Rurik, which is very close to my heart, more than exceeds that. A great achievement for New Zealand craft beer.”
