ATEED having to bid for Auckland to host a rugby test match – Really !!
“What the hell are we doing bidding for a rugby game that would be best held in Auckland and if it wasn't would deny Rugby of an optimum audience.”
Commenting on ATEED disclosure (NZ Herald today) that ATEED was forced to bid for one of the two Lions tests this winter, Auckland Chamber head Michael Barnett said it was ludicrous that Auckland rate payer money was used to bid for an All Black test match.
“There is nowhere else in New Zealand that could host a test match on the scale of Auckland – Eden Park is the obvious venue.”
Using rate payer money this way is plain wrong, said Mr Barnett.
