Newmarket Business Awards Finalists Announced

Auckland, New Zealand: Tuesday 23rd May, 2017

Neighbourhood bars and cafes, designer retailers, fitness centres and beauty clinics are among the finalists announced today in the 2017 Newmarket Business Awards (NBA).

This year’s independent judging panel includes business leaders Andy Hamilton (Icehouse), Anne Norman (James Pascoe Group), Anthony Hoy Fong (Chef), Jayne Atherton (Business Editor, Sunday Star Times - Fairfax), Michael Barnett (Auckland Chamber of Commerce), Michelle Vogt (Mint Consulting), Stewart Sherriff (2degrees) and Wynnis Armour (Armour Consulting). Sponsor judges in the 2017 awards include Rachel Dovey (Bayleys), Steve Beaumont (Continental Cars), and Rotary Newmarket.

NBA’s CEO, Mark Knoff-Thomas, comments: “Newmarket is home to over 1,400 businesses and 18,000 employees and the business awards are our annual celebration of their success. This year, we have had the highest number of entries ever, and so the judges really had their work cut out for them. In addition, for the first time ever, we’ve added an additional level of scrutiny to the judging process by incorporating a ‘mystery shopper’ component to certain categories.”

The winners of each category, plus the People’s Choice, and the Supreme Winner, will be announced at the Newmarket Business Awards evening held at The Langham on Thursday 22nd June. The awards are proudly sponsered by Bayleys and Continental Cars, and this is the sixth year they have been held.
