Sub-Dividing Sections a Hot Topic for Auckland Homeowners
Jalcon Homes’ Design and Build Hub Talks a huge success
With the Unitary Plan making sub-division easier, more and more Aucklanders are looking to explore that option for their own properties.
Jalcon, Auckland’s leading designer and builder of award-winning homes, has been running a series of talks at its new Design and Build Hub in Newmarket, with the free sub-division seminars proving to be the most popular by far.
“We’ve run five sub-division talks so far and they’ve all been full, with Auckland homeowners very keen to see if this is an option for them. Some people are looking to add an extra dwelling on their land for their children or ageing parents while others are looking to maximise the value of their properties,” says Jalcon CEO Bruce McKinnon.
Due to the demand, Jalcon is running additional sub-division talks at the Hub on Saturday 9 September at 3pm andThursday 28 September at 6pm.
Other popular topics in the Hub series have included “Creating a Bespoke Home”, “Renovate, Remove or Build”, and “Costing and Financing Your New Build”.
“We also have several new subjects coming up, such as “Designing a Unique Home for your Site – an Architectural Solution”, “Key Trends in Kitchen Design” and “Latest Colour Trends from Resene”.”

McKinnon says Jalcon created the Design and Build Hub to give people a central Auckland location where they could go and find out everything they needed to know about creating a beautiful new home. “We believe Aucklanders should have a complete understanding of the design and build process right from the get-go, so they are aware of what questions need to be asked at every stage in order to build their dream home.”
Featuring interactive displays and showcasing different housing projects, the Hub is staffed by design and build professionals at all times to offer expert advice. It’s open from 10am six days a week (closed Monday) and is situated at 35 Teed Street, with the main entrance on Gillies Avenue.
