Movember Taking Over at Mataura Valley Milk

Movember Taking Over at Mataura Valley Milk

With about 280 people on site at Mataura Valley Milk near Gore – competition to grow the best facial hair is heating up.

About 10 people on have taken up the challenge with each contractor on site putting forward a volunteer to grow a Mo and raise funds for men’s health.

Carmen Pocklington, site office administrator for project managers Babbage, said staff planned to gather in the site village for a ceremonial “shave off” and announcement of the winner at the end of the month.

Mataura Valley Milk general manager Bernard May said the friendly competition was a great way to get people to think about their own health through a fun initiative.

“We’ve got a great crew on site helping build and develop our nutrition plant and it’s vital each of them takes time to look after their own health for their sake and for their families’ sakes.”

An on-site nurse is proving popular with many taking the opportunity to pop in for a chat about whatever is on their mind.

The Gore plant under construction is part of a $240 million investment to manufacture and produce premium nutritional powders and creams for high-end markets. The purpose-built nutrition plant, one of the world’s most technologically advanced, will employ 65 fulltime staff, with production scheduled to start in August 2018.
