Trade Me partners with Youth Hub

Trade Me Jobs has launched a partnership with New Zealand web platform Youth Hub to help more young people find and apply for entry-level jobs.

Youth Hub, dubbed the “LinkedIn for youth,” is a New Zealand website which encourages young people to create CV-like profile pages which they can use to connect with prospective employers, as well as other education and training providers.

The partnership with Trade Me links the two platforms so that entry-level Trade Me Jobs postings are showcased on Youth Hub’s platform to help young people see and apply for them.

“We decided to partner with Youth Hub because it’s a fantastic opportunity for Trade Me Jobs to work with an innovative company which is committed to helping young Kiwis on their career journey,” Jeremy Wade, Head of Trade Me Jobs, says.

Under the partnership, new positions posted on Trade Me Jobs which are marked as “entry level” will automatically be cross-posted to Youth Hub for its network of young jobseekers to see.

“The partnership makes it extremely easy for employers to reach New Zealand’s youth with their new job opportunities,” Youth Hub founder and creator, Senthil Perumal, says.

“New Zealand youth are resourceful, hardworking, smart, and entrepreneurial; they’re great to employ.

“They’re digital natives who’ve grown up immersed in the digital world of internet businesses and social media so they can be very useful in modernising old processes and helping employers reach new customers.”

“Employing young people can bring in fresh perspectives, offer new ideas and new solutions to the workplace,” Wade adds.

In addition to this partnership, Youth Hub has launched a re-design of its platform, www.youthhub.co.nz, to create a seamless user experience for youth.

“Our new platform is really intuitive to use and has more tools, such as visual CVs and integrated transport options, to help young people at the start of their professional careers,” Perumal says.

“Thanks to our partnership with Trade Me, our youth now have more job options to explore than ever before.”

Wade says it’s all about ensuring young people make the best possible start to their careers.

“Making the move from education to employment can be scary for young Kiwis so it's really important that they have the support and tools they need to succeed in the workforce.”
