Updated statement from EVENT Cinemas
Updated statement from EVENT Cinemas
There was no industrial action at the majority of EVENT
Cinemas’ 17 locations across New Zealand last night. There
were 15 staff across all sites that left work to go on
strike at 10pm to coincide with the Midnight Screening of
Hans Solo: A Star Wars Story.
It was business as usual at all EVENT Cinemas across New Zealand. All films screened as scheduled and all customers attended our Midnight Screening with minimal impact. There were no refunds last night at EVENT Cinemas as a result of the great service delivered by our staff.
To reiterate, EVENT Cinemas has made a proposal for an overall wage increase of 4%, which we believe is fair. This is the highest wage increase that we have ever offered and we understand that the average annual wage increase across all industries last year was 1.9%.
