A new way to safely manage your Lotto Syndicate

A new way to safely manage your Lotto Syndicate

The dream of winning big in Lotto with your Syndicate can quickly become a nightmare without transparency and clear records.

This was highlighted by the recent case of Brendan King of Sydney who sued Syndicate members after they won 2..8 million dollars each in Powerball. Although no longer part of the Syndicate, King alleged he was frozen out and still entitled to a share of the winnings.

In another case, a Supreme Court trial was abandoned after members of an Australian Lotto Syndicate reached a financial settlement with the man they accused of cheating them out of a $16.6 million jackpot. The administrator, Mr Baron, claimed the winning ticket was his own, not that of the Syndicate.

To avoid turning friends to enemies and paying out those big winnings on court fees, it is important that anyone administrating a Lotto Syndicate keeps clear records of tickets and memberships.

In response to this need, and motivated by running his own Syndicate, Ron Schepers, a website developer from Nelson, decided to create a website to be used as a tool for managing Lotto Syndicates.

The free to use website, mylottosyndicate.nz, features the ability to keep records of draws entered with information such as which members were included in the draw and images of the tickets. Draw information is required to be uploaded before a draw takes place. When members sign up to the Syndicate they are required to agree to the Syndicate agreement which includes terms around privacy, and what is required to maintain membership.

Other features include the ability to keep track of member balances, or have members take turns to buy tickets. The draw and Syndicate information is visible to all members at any time.

Lotto Syndicates are a great way of making participation affordable as well as bringing people together in a fun way. The website mylottosyndicate.nz is designed to help ensure the fun keeps going by reducing risk and making the administration transparent, quick and easy.
