New Zealand’s favourite Internet gathering, NetHui, will be venturing to New Zealand’s Southernmost city Invercargill on 16 October 2018.

NetHui brings people together to discuss the future of the Internet and the challenges and opportunities the Internet brings to us all. InternetNZ has helped to bring NetHui to New Zealanders interested in the future of the Internet since 2011.

InternetNZ CEO, Jordan Carter says, "We’ve all been proud to watch NetHui grow, especially as the Internet plays a more prominent role in our lives. We’re excited to take NetHui on the road again so that every New Zealander has the opportunity to not only participate but lead with the issues that matter most to them."

Invercargill Mayor, Tim Shadbolt said the city was looking forward to hosting NetHui Southland.

"Invercargill is an innovative hub that will positively contribute to the success of NetHui Southland - we’re excited to be part of the way forward to securing better Internet for a more productive New Zealand."

Venture Southland CEO, Paul Casson said Southland’s geographic isolation meant the region placed extra importance on community connectivity, which could be a focus of NetHui Southland.

"It’s a chance for our whole community to be part of the conversations surrounding the use and impact of the Internet, not only on how we do business, but also on our everyday lives."

Casson said NetHui Southland will provide a fantastic opportunity for the Southland community to come together.

"So many of us use the Internet and through NetHui, we can all get together to share our stories and ideas."

Jordan Carter is looking forward to seeing the NetHui Roadtrip programme unfold. "We welcome this region’s contribution - to build the NetHui Southland programme - with topics that will be most useful for you and your community. So whether you're a small business owner, an educator, someone from the tech sector or simply someone who enjoys the Internet, NetHui is a space for you."

The NetHui Advisory Committee are looking for participants to help them build the NetHui Southland Roadtrip programme. If you’re interested in discussing the Internet issues we face today then they want to hear from you.

Keep an eye on the NetHui website and NetHui social media channels for updates on when and how you can help build the NetHui Southland programme.
