The announcement today of Z Energy and Flick Electric joining forces is a great example of Wellington-based businesses growing and innovating says Wellington Chamber of Commerce CEO John Milford.
"Z Energy is one of the largest fuel retailers in New Zealand, so it makes sense their desire to diversify into the electricity sector saw them pick out another Wellington success story, Flick Electric," says Mr Milford.
"Started-up in 2014 by a handful of Wellingtonians, Flick has changed the way many households buy their power in New Zealand.
"They are a good example of what you can achieve in the capital with a great idea, hard work, and technological innovation.
"Combining forces should help both companies tackle the changing energy market as consumers become increasingly focused on lowering their carbon emissions.
"Today's investment announcement is a boost to the local economy and hopefully inspires other start-ups to choose Wellington as a home base.
"I wish both companies well as they take on the rest of New Zealand."
