More FM Continues Success Story

MORE FM CONTINUES SUCCESS STORY
MEDIAWORKS REMAINS HOME OF 25-54 AUDIENCE

More FM remains New Zealand’s number one music station[+] in the third GfK Total New Zealand Commercial Radio Survey for 2018 with 8.8% share. The station has increased its overall listenership by 20,300 to reach 586,700[###] listeners nationwide.

The Drive team of Jase and Jay-Jay have delivered the highest share across all stations with 9.2%[+++] and increased its listeners by 21,800. At Breakfast, More FM continues to resonate with New Zealanders as the favourite music station with 10.7%[++] share and 359,100[#] listeners across the country. In Christchurch, More FM Breakfast Club delivered a 19.8% share[2] and in Northland, the 2018 Radio Award winning Breakfast team of John, Flash & Toast delivered a 24.3% share in their market contributing to an overall share of 18.5%[3]. In Manawatu, More FM’s Mike West in the Morning increased his winning lead to 17.4%[4].

The Edge still boasts the most listeners across the country with a cumulative audience of 624,400[###] - an increase of 2,900 from July. The Breakfast team with Dom, Meg & Randall is consistent pulling in 323,700 listeners and Jono, Ben & Sharyn have the largest audience during Drive with 315,700[##] listeners - an increase of 9,100. They are also the number two station[+++] in share during this time, behind More FM.

Leon Wratt, Group Content Director - Music, MediaWorks Radio said: “More FM has had another terrific result in this survey winning at both ends of the day. Starting with the Breakfast club who increased across multiple markets and backed by fantastic results from Jase and Jay-Jay during Drive, it’s fantastic to see. The Edge Breakfast continues to show growth and the Drive team of Jono, Ben & Sharyn have had a great result. Congratulations goes to Magic too who continues to be a star performer cracking 220,000 listeners nationally. I look forward to seeing what the teams produce in the final survey results of the year.”

In the commercially important 25-54 demographic, MediaWorks records 55.6% share of the market and the top five stations nationwide led by More FM, The Rock and The Breeze. Mai FM and The Sound are tied in fourth position. This places MediaWorks 23.1 percentage points ahead of its nearest competitor*.

RadioLIVE remained strong, increasing its national audience by 3,300 listeners to hit 220,900[### ] as well as increasing share. Mai FM is once again the leading music station in Auckland with a total audience of 246,800^ and 9.1% share~ and they showed very solid share increases in Wellington and Tauranga.

Magic continues to see gains across the board with an increase in national share and has also hit 220,500 listeners - 17,300 more than July[###]. It remains the top station in Hawkes Bay[$] and showed share increases in Wellington and Christchurch. The Breeze continues to be the number two music station nationally with 7.9% share[+] and is the favourite music station in Wellington with 11.9% share[x].

The Sound had a strong result in Wellington and retains a good share position in both Tauranga and Taranaki. George FM delivered a very strong result in Auckland increasing share to 2.6%[~] and adding an additional 4,400 listeners in the City of Sails^.

Rova continues to be a hit with listeners, gaining another 50,000 downloads since the previous survey period and averaging 84,000 unique monthly users~~ - an average increase of 8,000 unique users per month. The total number of app downloads is now 350,000.
