Destination Queenstown Tourism Exchange delegation departing for three-city tour of China
Queenstown, New Zealand (11 October, 2018) Destination Queenstown will next week lead a delegation of ‘Queenstown and New Zealand Inc’ businesses and stakeholders on its inaugural China Tourism Exchange, travelling to Shanghai, Hangzhou and Chengdu.
In total the New Zealand based delegation will comprise of more than 30 participants including Queenstown Mayor Jim Boult and Mayoress Karen Boult, 13 Queenstown operators, industry partners as well as a representative from our neighbouring region, Southland.
Destination Queenstown chief executive Graham Budd says the strength of the delegation highlights the value placed on the Chinese visitors, and an intent to influence travel trends in this dynamic market.
“Our key themes for this exchange are to position Queenstown as a premium destination as well as promote winter and year-round visitation to spread demand. This exchange is also being recognised as the first official ‘in market’ tourism delegation as part of the China New Zealand Year of Tourism 2019. We are proud to represent New Zealand in China as part of this initiative,” he says.
In Shanghai and Hangzhou the group be joined and supported by Air New Zealand, Tourism New Zealand, New Zealand Government officials including the Shanghai-based Consul General, the head of NZ Trade and Enterprise and Immigration New Zealand.
The Exchange is also supported by Auckland International Airport Limited’s China market team Mark Frood and Carson Chen.
