HOST International NZ Board Appointments

Wellington, 27 February 2019 – HOST International NZ is pleased to announce their new board appointments which will support the organisation’s work with innovative refugee resettlement in New Zealand.

When appointing the New Zealand board members, HOST International NZ’s focus was on identifying individuals whose expertise and lived experience would positively contribute to the strategic direction of HOST International NZ going forward.

Joining the NZ Board will be David Keegan, Mitchell Pham and Dr Mai Tamimi.

The Founding Chair, David Keegan, is based in Sydney and is the Group CEO of HOST International which he founded in 2016. This is the parent company of HOST International NZ. David has held a number of executive managements roles in the refugee and settlement sector, including with Connect Settlement Services and Settlement Services International. Prior to this, David was an educator and vocational trainer and spent nearly a decade working as a qualified social worker.

Mitchell Pham is a Vietnamese-Kiwi business and social entrepreneur based in Auckland. He is a Co-founder, Director and head of Sales and Marketing of the Augen Software Group in New Zealand, as well as Chairman and Director of their operation in Vietnam. Mitchell holds a number of additional roles including Chair of both NZTech and FinTechNZ, Honorary Advisor of the Asia NZ Foundation, and Co-founder and Trustee of the Auckland Refugee Family Trust. In 2018, Mitchell was recognised as a World Class New Zealander by KEA New Zealand.

Dr Mai Tamimi is based in Dunedin and received her PhD in Geography from the University of Otago. Born in Palestine, Mai has worked in a number of capacities with humanitarian and development actors in Palestine including Save the Children, OXFAM GB, World Vision, United National Development Programme and Action Aid Australia (Palestine country office). She currently works as Middle Eastern Integration Coordinator at Arai Te Uru Whare Hauora with local refugee background communities. Mai also volunteers her time with the Abrahamic Interfaith Group and Integrate Women International.

HOST International NZ is a non-profit that exists to make life better for displaced people and former refugees and the communities that host them on their journey. They do this by fostering humanity, hope and dignity for all people.
