Investment Services Group (ISG) is delighted to announce the successful completion of its Strategic Review. Effective 1 July 2025, ISG will be going into partnership with Shaw and Partners, one of Australia’s preeminent investment advice and wealth management firms. Shaw and Partners is a subsidiary of EFG International, a leading Swiss private bank specialising in wealth management and investment management.

With a national presence in Australia and AUD35 billion of assets under advice, Shaw and Partners offers the intimacy of a boutique investment firm, backed by the resources and scale of a major global financial group in EFG International. Across its overall group, EFG International manages approximately NZD330 billion of assets. EFG International has a current market capitalisation of approximately NZD9 billion, and is regarded as one of the best-capitalised Swiss private banks.

Shaw and Partners will be well-known to many New Zealanders already as a result of its extensive programme of community partnerships, including sponsorship of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and the World Ocean Series for surf lifesaving, as well as the charitable activities of the Shaw and Partners Foundation.

ISG cares for over $7 billion of wealth assets for New Zealanders, under its companies Devon Funds, JMI Wealth, Select Wealth, Clarity Funds and TAHITO. For all these businesses, it will be very much business as usual, albeit in the case of JMI Wealth, we also look forward to leveraging the strength of the Shaw and Partners brand, as well as introducing the Shaw and Partners Foundation in New Zealand.

This is an exciting moment for all of us. ISG has built something truly impressive—across wealth management, funds management, and platforms—with a reputation for quality, independence, and integrity that is known and respected well beyond New Zealand. The strength of the ISG business, and the calibre of its people, made this partnership an easy decision for us.

At Shaw and Partners, we believe that great businesses are built on strong relationships—with clients, with communities, and most importantly, with each other. That’s why this partnership is about more than scale or strategy. It’s about shared values. It’s about bringing together two like-minded firms with a focus on doing the right thing by clients and empowering our people to do their best work.

The ISG team are joining a group that celebrates initiative, backs its people, and believes in the power of collaboration. Together, we have a great opportunity to grow, and to build something even more extraordinary in New Zealand.

Comments from ISG Chairman Paul Glass

At the outset of our process last year, we indicated our desire to find a long-term partner who could accelerate our growth. At the same time, it was critical to us that we found a partner that would allow us to continue the journey together. Shaw and Partners represents a very strong fit for us given these considerations.

The structure we have agreed is that effective 1 July 2025, Shaw and Partners will acquire a majority stake in ISG, subject to regulatory approvals.

Shaw and Partners has a particular focus on developing long-term relationships with clients that are founded on trust, which we believe is perfectly aligned with our approach to client partnerships. We were also attracted to EFG International’s global expertise in wealth and investment management, strong financial position and its track record of solid growth.

Our current management team and key shareholders have made a long-term commitment to our partnership with Shaw and Partners, which we believe is critical to a successful next chapter for ISG.

Rebrand of JMI Wealth to Shaw and Partners (NZ) – attribute to Andrew Kelleher

With Shaw and Partners on board as our partner, we now look forward to a period of significant activity in the New Zealand market. Our most immediate step will be to rebrand JMI Wealth to Shaw and Partners (NZ).

As Shaw and Partners (NZ), we believe we will have a strong foundation to grow our network of advisers and clients right across New Zealand. In Australia, Shaw and Partners has demonstrated an ability to grow significantly while maintaining a boutique and personalised service offering for clients. This is the experience we will be replicating in New Zealand.

For clients, we look forward to introducing an enhanced suite of services that draws on the resources and expertise of both Shaw and Partners and their Swiss parent EFG International. Together we believe we will be able to offer an experience for clients that will be unrivalled in the New Zealand market.

And for advisers, we believe there will be compelling reasons to work with Shaw and Partners (NZ). As the New Zealand market continues to evolve and consolidate, it is our sense that more and more advisers will find that partnering with Shaw and Partners (NZ) provides the ideal platform to deliver a superior service to clients.

While it will represent the end of an era to retire the name of JMI Wealth, we firmly believe that all of the attributes that clients value about JMI Wealth will continue to be a feature of our service as Shaw and Partners (NZ). Equally, we look forward to being a more active participant in community partnerships, in keeping with the approach of the Shaw and Partners Foundation.

Acknowledgement of clients

Finally, we extend our thanks to all of our clients for their patience and ongoing support during our Strategic Review process.
