Age Friendly Fund Now Open
Do you have a bold, creative idea that could transform the lives of older people in your community? The Age friendly Fund is now open for applications.
Grants are available to New Zealand councils, community organisations, and registered non-profits, with support from their local council. Individuals and businesses are not eligible.
One-off grants range from $5,000 to $15,000, and applications close on 30 September 2025.
Funding can be used to kickstart the development of a local Age friendly plan or to bring a new initiative to life that supports an existing plan.
Last year, 12 organisations received funding for projects that built intergenerational connections, strengthened social networks, and helped shape future planning through needs assessments.
Age friendly Programme Lead Tessa Madden said “Whether it’s fostering connection, boosting wellbeing, or designing inclusive spaces, we’re looking for innovative projects that help older New Zealanders thrive.
“Age friendly communities are about more than accessibility—they’re about belonging. We need to create environments where older people feel valued, connected, and empowered to live well. The ripple effects benefit everyone.”
