The G.O.A.T Doppelbock Performs On The Global Stage With ‘World Beer Awards’ Accolade

Sprig + Fern Brewing Co.’s ‘greatest of all time’ beer has further lived up to its name, by taking home a silver medal at the prestigious World Beer Awards.
The G.O.A.T Doppelbock, already the most decorated beer in Sprig + Fern’s range, has achieved its one of its highest acclaims yet, with a silver medal, announced at an event on the 13th of August. The World Beer Awards celebrate the best beers from around the globe, making this win a significant moment for not only
Sprig + Fern Brewing Co., but keeps New Zealand firmly in the international spotlight as a craft beer destination.
Tracy Banner, Sprig + Fern Brand Owner and Master Brewer, said:
“Flying this beer halfway around the world to the UK [where the judging was held for this category] was a gamble, and we had to hope it would travel well and arrive in top condition. Obviously, it has done just that.
“While we are so grateful for every award we receive, this one is particularly satisfying – knowing it was up against other beers of this style, particularly from the home of Doppelbock in Germany, to come out with this accolade is huge for us”.
This latest honour brings the award tally to 22 major national and international awards for The G.O.A.T Doppelbock, including a Brewers Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards gold medal and Best in Class Trophy in 2024, multiple New World Beer & Cider Awards and nearly two dozen other awards.
This award-winning beer offers rich, full-bodied and malt-forward flavour with a smooth, warming finish – true to the traditional Doppelbock style. It has been a long-time favourite of the Nelson-based brewery’s customers, and this win is expected to only increase its appeal.
The G.O.A.T Doppelbock is available in 440ml can and 888ml bottles through the Sprig + Fern website, and can be found in fridges nationwide. For full availability, visit sprigandfern.co.nz/stockists.
