Webb’s Announced As Event Partner For The Mindful Fashion Circular Design Awards 2025

Mindful Fashion New Zealand is proud to announce leading auction house Webb’s as an official Event Partner for the Mindful Fashion Circular Design Awards 2025, a celebration of innovation, creativity, and circular design shaping the future of fashion in Aotearoa.

As a business built on keeping valuable items in use, Webb’s has long championed principles of the circular economy. From rare art and design to treasured collectibles, their model proves that extending the life of goods preserves cultural and material value. Partnering with the Awards highlights a shared commitment to reimagining how we design, use, and circulate fashion and textiles.

“Fashion is part of our cultural fabric and, like art and design, it carries lasting value,” says Jacinta FitzGerald, Chief Executive of Mindful Fashion NZ. Webb’s’ leadership in celebrating this value through resale mirrors the mission of the Circular Design Awards; to showcase innovation that keeps resources in use and creates new value for Aotearoa. We’re proud to welcome them as an event partner for 2025.”

For Webb’s, the alignment is clear. “Webb’s has always stood for the enduring value of art, design, and objects that tell a story. Our partnership with the Mindful Fashion Circular Design Awards reflects a shared belief: that creativity and longevity should shape how we engage with the things we make and keep. Circular design isn’t just a concept - it’s a way of giving objects continued relevance and meaning” Elizabeth Boadicea Snow, Head of Brand & Marketing at Webb’s.

The Circular Design Awards challenge designers, innovators, and businesses to tackle textile waste and rethink fashion through creativity, circular design, and regenerative business models. Guided by the principles of people, place and nature, the Awards spotlight pioneering ideas and solutions that design out waste and showcase the value of circular approaches.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2025 Awards Gala, which will be set in the stunning surrounds of Webb’s Auction House on Tuesday 7 October, where finalists’ creations will be showcased and winners announced. The evening promises to be a powerful celebration of innovation, collaboration, and the future of fashion in Aotearoa.

“By supporting the Awards, Webb’s is helping amplify the movement towards a circular fashion system,” adds FitzGerald. “Together we’re spotlighting the designers and businesses turning waste into opportunity, and reshaping what fashion can mean for people and the planet.”

About the Mindful Fashion Circular Design Awards

The Mindful Fashion Circular Design Awards challenge individuals and businesses to reimagine fashion as circular and design out waste. With 80% of a garments impact determined at the design stage, decisions made here are crucial. Through the Circular Design Awards, Mindful Fashion inspires and educates business leaders and next generation designers in Aotearoa to reimagine their foundational practices, design out waste and make products and materials that can be kept in circulation.

• In Aotearoa we consume 14.3kg of clothing, per person, every year.

• 143 tonnes of clothing is sent to landfill every day in NZ.

• That’s 496 kgs of clothing going to NZ landfills every 5 mins (image available - installation at CDA)

A circular economy for fashion reduces waste and pollution, can reduce emissions by up to one third, reduces the volume and impact of virgin resources required to make our clothes and increases the utilisation of products and materials that are already in use.
