Waipā Networks Welcomes New Board Director Alex Ball

Waipā Networks is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Ball to its board of directors.
Ball is an experienced chair and non-executive director, with a governance career spanning advisory and board roles across New Zealand’s medium-sized and growth companies. He brings over 30 years of commercial leadership experience in infrastructure, technology, telecommunications, and financial services, including senior executive roles at Vector, Transpower, TelstraClear, and EROAD.
He is an accredited Chair at Faraday, a firm that supports scaling businesses through strategic advisory boards, and has previously served as CFO reporting to the boards of three large corporates and a high-growth tech company operating in ASX and NZX-listed environments.
Board Chair Jonathan Kay says Ball’s appointment will strengthen Waipā Networks’ strategic and financial leadership.
“Alex’s depth of experience in corporate governance, strategic planning, and financial management will be a major asset to our board,” says Kay.
“His ability to guide businesses through transformation aligns with our focus on future-ready energy solutions for Waipā.”
Ball says he is looking forward to contributing to the company’s growth and community impact.
“Waipā Networks plays a vital role in enabling growth for the Waipā District, and I’m excited to support its mission,” says Ball.
“Having worked with founders and CEOs across New Zealand, I understand the challenges of scaling and evolving businesses. I look forward to bringing that perspective to a company that’s deeply connected and committed to its community.
”Alex Ball is appointed for a three-year term. His appointment is the second recent appointment to the Board, with Jen Crawford also elected this month.
