Household Living - Costs Price Indexes Update
Stats NZ will resume publishing the household living-costs price indexes (HLPI) on 28 October 2025.
In May 2025, Stats NZ paused the HLPI due to technical challenges in updating weights after the Consumers price index review: 2024.
Data for the March, June, and September 2025 quarters will all be published at 10:45am on 28 October 2025 and a complete time series will be available.
The Household living-costs price indexes review: 2024 – tables and methodology paper will be published on 21 October 2025, ahead of this release.
We apologise for any inconvenience this delay has caused.
We will be offering a seminar to explain the modified process to calculate expenditure weights in further detail following the release on 28 October.
