ANZIIF Sets The Agenda On Liability Risk At The 2026 New Zealand Liability Conference
ANZIIF has announced the 2026 ANZIIF New Zealand Liability Conference, its premier industry forum designed to equip insurance and finance professionals with the insights and practical capability in one of insurance’s fastest-evolving risk environments.
Against a backdrop of heightened regulatory scrutiny and increasingly complex claims, liability risk has become a critical capability for insurers, brokers and risk professionals.
Taking place on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, the hybrid conference will be hosted at Hilton Auckland and online, giving insurance and finance professionals the flexibility to attend in person or virtually.
The conference will bring together industry leaders, legal experts and regulatory voices to examine how liability is assessed, prosecuted and insured in practice.
ANZIIF CEO Katrina Shanks says the conference reflects ANZIIF’s commitment to trusted learning that builds confidence and clarity across the profession.
“This conference is designed to move beyond theory, giving professionals a current and practical understanding of how the industry can respond to liability exposures with confidence, from brokers and underwriters to claims and legal practitioners.”
Conference agenda focus
The 2026 program will centre on regulatory change and real-world liability outcomes, including Resource Management Act (RMA) reform, Health & Safety prosecutions, and the shift from enforcement to education by regulators.
Sessions will also examine forensic investigations, causation and liability analysis alongside case studies exploring product liability versus recall cover, contamination events, regulatory notification obligations, and the critical question of policy response and where coverage stops.
Legal practitioners specialising in regulatory prosecution and defence, alongside senior regulatory perspectives will offer grounded, practitioner-level expertise.
