Chambers And MSD Partner To Strengthen Business Hiring
The New Zealand Chambers of Commerce today welcomed the launch of ChamberWorks, a new partnership with the Ministry of Social Development designed to help businesses find and keep the right people.
Simon Bridges, Chief Executive of the Auckland Business Chamber, speaking on behalf of the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce, says the programme responds directly to what employers have been saying.
“Finding good people is tough. Finding the time and headspace to recruit properly is even tougher, especially for small and medium-sized businesses,” Mr Bridges says.
“It’s about making that easier. It’s employer-focused and built around what businesses actually need.”
Social Development and Employment Minister Louise Upston said, “ChamberWorks will support more successful job placements and will be a valuable recruitment service for employers, helping them to find the right people for their vacancies.”
The programme connects employers with pre-screened, work-ready candidates from MSD’s talent pipeline, the largest in the country.
“Businesses can share a vacancy and access a shortlist of candidates who have already been screened. That saves time, reduces risk and gives employers more confidence in their hiring decisions,” Mr Bridges says.
It also supports retention, with access to free training, online learning and wellbeing support to help businesses build strong teams.
“This isn’t about adding another layer of bureaucracy. It’s about removing barriers. Helping more Kiwis into work while supporting businesses to grow is good for employers and good for New Zealand,” Mr Bridges says.
“The Chambers are trusted by business communities across New Zealand. MSD brings scale and access to talent. Bringing those strengths together just makes sense.”
ChamberWorks will be delivered through 23 Chambers of Commerce nationwide.
“It’s free. It’s practical. And it’s available now.” Mr Bridges says.
