Golden “Bugger”
for
Toyota, Saatchi & Saatchi at
Cannes
“Bugger” – the Hi-Lux television commercial created by Saatchi & Saatchi Wellington for Toyota New Zealand – has won a Gold Lion award for creativity at the world’s leading advertising festival in Cannes, France.
“Bugger” is rated by viewers as their favourite television ad in New Zealand and also in Australia.
This is only the second Gold Lion for creativity won by a New Zealand agency – the other also going to Saatchi & Saatchi Wellington, ten years ago for the Telecom “99c to Australia” campaign.
“Bugger” is the work of the Saatchi & Saatchi Wellington creative team of John Plimmer, John Fisher and Howard Greive.
This year was the most successful ever for a New Zealand agency at Cannes. There were over 5,000 entries into what is known as the “World Cup of Advertising”.
In addition to the Gold Lion for “Bugger”, Saatchi & Saatchi Auckland won a Silver and two Bronze Lions for their work on the Auckland Regional Council’s “Natural Masterpieces” campaign and a Bronze Lion for a Greenpeace anti-nuclear poster. Saatchi & Saatchi Auckland senior creative Andrew Tinning created both campaigns.
“Natural Masterpieces” are huge picture frames that showcase the beauty of Auckland regional parks.
