AUCTION DELAY WELCOMED
Vodafone New Zealand has today welcomed the Government's decision to delay the auction of 2GHz radio frequency spectrum.
Vodafone's Managing Director, John Rohan, applauded the decision announced by Telecommunications Minister Maurice Williamson.
He said that although the industry was keen to utilise the spectrum, it had requested the delay because of the important role the spectrum would have in New Zealand's future communications and the need for the industry to be properly prepared.
"The 2GHz spectrum will be central to New Zealand's economy, so we've got to get it right.
"We are glad the Government listened to our request to delay the commencement of the auction," Mr Rohan said.
