Local Author Wins At Prestigious Cookbook Awards

LOCAL AUTHOR WINS AT PRESTIGIOUS INTERNATIONAL COOKBOOK AWARDS
New Zealand author Peta Mathias, has won the Best Literary Food Writing (in English) category at Le Salon International du Livre Gourmand, the World Cookbook Fair at Périgueux in France for her best-selling book Burnt Barley: How to Eat, Dance and Sing Your Way Around Ireland.
Peta Mathias will now compete for the ‘Best in the World’ Award against the winners in other languages in the same category. The ‘Best in the World’ winners will be announced on Saturday November 11th 2000 in Périgueux.
Over 2600 food and wine books from 26 countries in 18 languages have entered this prestigious international competition.
Burnt Barley: How to Eat, Dance and Sing Your Way Around Ireland was published by Random House NZ Ltd. in June 2000 to instant success and includes a CD of specially recorded Irish music sung by Peta. Well-loved food personality and author of several books, Peta Mathias also currently presents her own series Corbans Taste New Zealand on TV1.
