Famous New Zealand Yacht “Ranger” To Represent New Zealand At The 150th Anniversary Of The America’s Cup
The
Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron has been invited to send a
pre-war yacht to the 150th Anniversary celebration of the
America’s Cup at Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK, to be held during
August.
The Squadron has chosen the yacht “Ranger” which dominated the Auckland yachting scene from when it was built in 1937 until the mid 70’s and was the undisputed champion of the Harbour for that period. “Ranger” represents the pinnacle of home grown New Zealand yachting.
Over the past two years “Ranger” has undergone a major refit which has restored her to her former glory of the 1930’s.
The participation at Cowes of “Ranger” has been made possible by the generous support of P & O Nedlloyd.
